About DeGate Playbook
Self-custody is moving from an idea held by early adopters to an infrastructure choice that anyone holding meaningful crypto now has to make consciously. The Playbook is where we work through what that means in practice.
Why this exists
Holding crypto has changed shape. What used to be a single question — should I buy this? — has become a set of structural ones: how to hold it, where to use it, how it intersects with traditional assets, and how it shows up to the outside world. None of these have clean off-the-shelf answers.
The public material on these questions splits into two registers: professional-grade content written for professionals, dense and accurate but inaccessible; and forum-grade content written by people guessing, often confidently and often wrong. Little sits in between — accessible to a regular crypto holder, anchored in sources solid enough to act on rather than just argue with.
The Playbook is our attempt to write that middle layer.
What we are
A long-term reference library, versioned and source-anchored, meant to stay useful for years rather than chase traffic.
We are DeGate's editorial team. We build a multichain self-custody wallet, and we research the topics that wallet users keep asking about. The Playbook is the public-facing output of that research.
What we are not
We are not tax advisors or legal counsel. Every reference is informational, framed as preparation for your own qualified-advisor conversation or due-diligence process. References do not carry affiliate links or sponsored placements; where DeGate's own product is relevant, we say so explicitly and keep product links separate from analysis.
Editorial principles
Primary sources required. Core factual and legal claims trace back to primary sources wherever possible. Citation chains are visible at the end of every reference and exposed in structured data for verification.
Versioning. Every material change bumps the reference's version number. Current version and last-updated date appear in each reference's footer.
Scope discipline. We don't write outside what we've researched. References explicitly note what they do not cover.
