**Quick answer:** xStocks and Ondo can track the same company but remain separate products with different issuers, contracts, redemption routes, dividend displays, and DeFi markets. Choose the exact product by checking its network, contract, holder rights, trading route, and intended use.

**Questions this guide answers:**
- xStocks vs Ondo
- xStocks or Ondo tokenized stocks
- difference between TSLAx and TSLAon

---

Search for Tesla and you may see TSLAx from xStocks and TSLAon from Ondo. Both follow the economics of Tesla shares. They are also separate financial products, each with its own issuer, contract, network support, redemption rules, and way of recording dividends.

Start with what you plan to do after buying. A token that works well for a Solana lending market may not be the token you need for an Ethereum stock LP. If you plan to use DeGate, both issuers appear in its stock experience. Ondo also has an official quote route available through a solver partner integrated with DeGate. For LP use, check whether Turbo Range supports the exact token and network. Turbo Range provides one stock/USDC position flow for eligible Ondo assets on Ethereum; that does not extend LP support to every tradable token.

## Compare the two products

| Check | xStocks | Ondo Stocks |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Issuer and product | Backed Assets (JE) Limited issues tracker certificates, documented as bearer debt instruments | Ondo Global Markets (BVI) Limited issues structured notes that provide economic exposure to the referenced security |
| Direct share ownership | The token holder does not become the registered shareholder | The token holder does not become the registered shareholder |
| Networks | Issued on several networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Mantle, TON, and Ink | Available on Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Solana |
| Direct issuer access | Requires KYC/AML onboarding and a whitelisted wallet; the documented minimum for buying newly issued tokens from the issuer or returning tokens to it is $5,000 | Requires Ondo onboarding and eligibility; the documented minimum is $1. The Ondo platform settles through USDon, while conversion to or from USDC depends on stablecoin-swapper access and available liquidity |
| Dividends | The issuer reinvests the net dividend and updates a multiplier; balances adjust on EVM, while Solana and TON need multiplier-aware display support | The token tracks total return through shares per token; Ethereum reflects this in the token price, while Scaled UI can reflect it in the displayed balance on Solana and BNB Chain |
| Secondary trading | Can trade around the clock on supported venues; liquidity and prices belong to each venue | Ondo's official buy and sell quotes follow its session rules, including Off-Hours support for selected assets; secondary pools may follow their own availability |
| DeFi path | Appears in external pools and lending markets where the exact contract is supported; an EVM protocol may require the current non-rebasing wrapped xStocks contract | Designed for transfer and DeFi use; in DeGate, eligible Ondo assets on Ethereum use Turbo Range's unified stock/USDC position flow |

First decide which stock you want and which network you plan to use. Then use the table to compare the two issuers. xStocks and Ondo each issue many stock tokens, but neither necessarily offers every stock on every supported network. Finding one xStock on a chain does not mean that all other xStocks are available there too.

## Think about what you want to do after buying

If you only plan to buy and hold, compare the executable quote, how the issuer handles dividends, and how your wallet displays the position. Do not decide from the company name alone. TSLAx and TSLAon both track Tesla shares, but different companies issue them as separate on-chain assets. Before confirming a trade, open DeGate Token Info and check the issuer, network, contract address, and referenced stock.

If you want to use the token in a lending market or another DeFi app, open that app before you buy. Check the network and exact contract it accepts, then return to your wallet to get the right token. An app that supports TSLAx on Solana may not support TSLAon. Some EVM apps may also require the designated wrapped version of an xStock. Checking first avoids buying a token that you cannot deposit into the app you chose.

If your goal is to provide stock liquidity in DeGate, begin with the eligible Ondo assets in Turbo Range. You can start with USDC alone: the setup estimates the auto-swap needed to prepare the stock-token side when a quote is available. Buy the stock token first only if you also want to hold it separately or enter both assets yourself.

## Compare the route you can use today

Issuer support and executable liquidity are separate checks. Seeing TSLAx or TSLAon means the wallet can identify the asset. To find out whether you can trade a particular amount now, enter it and check the live quote.

In DeGate, enter the amount you intend to trade and read the final preview. For an Ondo order, a solver partner integrated with DeGate can send a Request for Quote (RFQ) through Ondo's official API when that route is available. Ondo ties the quote to the corresponding stock in the traditional US market while also considering its inventory, market conditions, and the order size. Your order is therefore not limited to the money in a single on-chain pool, and the RFQ route may offer more depth when it is available.

xStocks also operates an atomic RFQ service called xChange for onboarded clients with whitelisted wallets. DeGate has not currently integrated that xStocks RFQ route, so an xStocks trade in DeGate uses another route that can return an executable quote.

During US market hours, primary-market access can help market makers keep token prices close to the referenced shares. Overnight, on weekends, or during a corporate-action pause, spreads and available order sizes may change. [Tokenized Stock Trading Hours](https://degate.com/guides/stocks/tokenized-stock-trading-hours/) explains how the issuer session and an on-chain pool can differ.

## Check how dividends will appear

Neither program sends the dividend to your wallet as a separate cash payment. After applicable withholding, the issuer reinvests the dividend in the corresponding stock. You still receive the economic benefit, but it usually appears as a larger displayed token balance or as more value represented by each token.

xStocks records dividend reinvestment and stock splits through a multiplier, but each chain displays the result differently:

- On Ethereum, Arbitrum, and other EVM networks, the token contract applies the adjustment. The balance read by the wallet already includes the change.
- On Solana, the raw on-chain amount stays unchanged. A wallet must support the Token-2022 Scaled UI Amount Extension to include the multiplier in the balance shown to the user.
- TON works in a similar way through the Scaled UI Jettons standard. The wallet must read the multiplier to show the adjusted amount.

Ondo records the same kind of change through shares per token. On Ethereum, the token count stays fixed, so the reinvested value mainly appears in the value of each token. On Solana and BNB Chain, a wallet that has integrated Ondo's Scaled UI can show a growing token balance while keeping the displayed price closer to the referenced stock. The total value of the position should be equivalent under either display method.

This makes recordkeeping part of the product choice. Before buying, check whether your wallet explains the multiplier or shares-per-token value clearly enough for you to reconcile the position later. ## A practical decision order

1. Confirm that you are eligible to acquire the product.
2. Find the exact version supported on your intended network.
3. Check whether your later use requires TSLAx, TSLAon, or another contract.
4. Compare the executable quote for your order size.
5. Read the issuer's redemption and corporate-action terms.

DeGate helps with the middle of this process by placing issuer information, trading, and stock LP access in one wallet. The legal claim still comes from the issuer's documents, so use the detailed [Playbook comparison of tokenized-stock issuance models](https://degate.com/playbook/tokenized-stock-issuance-models/) when you need to examine the structure behind each token.

## FAQ

### Can I swap TSLAx directly for TSLAon?

They are separate contracts from separate issuers. Moving from one to the other requires an available trading route, often through a stablecoin in between. Check the final preview rather than assuming a one-for-one conversion.

### Which is better for DeFi, xStocks or Ondo?

The answer depends on the application and network. xStocks appears in external DeFi markets. In DeGate, LP availability depends on the exact token and network. Eligible Ondo assets on Ethereum use Turbo Range's unified stock/USDC position flow; xStocks LP use depends on a separate supported market. Check the exact contract and live route before acquiring either token for DeFi.

### Do xStocks and Ondo pay cash dividends to my wallet?

Their current issuer documents describe reinvestment rather than a separate cash payment. The effect appears through a multiplier, the displayed balance, or the value represented by each token.
